Responding to news that Loganair Chief Executive Jonathan Hinkles is stepping down from the role, Orkney’s MSP Liam McArthur said:

“This is disappointing news. While the problems Loganair has faced over recent times have been well-publicised, I have always found Jonathan Hinkles approachable and willing to take on board concerns I have raised on behalf of constituents and our community. For that, I am personally very grateful.

“He certainly recognised the particular responsibility on Loganair that comes with delivering ‘lifeline’ air services to island communities and recognised the impact that disruption to those services has on individuals and businesses.

“There is no question that Loganair needs to improve its recent record when it comes to delays and disruption as well as in its communications with customers. However, Jonathan Hinkles deserves great credit for the progress he made in addressing serious and widespread problems that beset the airline when he returned to Loganair back in 2016. I wish him well in whatever he does next and will be seeking an early meeting with his successor.”
